Dr. Fernando Goldbaum is Senior Researcher at the National Council for Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET) and executive director of the Center for Protein Redesign and Engineering (CRIP-UNSAM). He is also scientific director of Inmunova, where CovidFab was developed: hyperimmune serum for the treatment of moderate and severe patients of COVID-19.

Biochemist and doctor in Immunology from the Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry of the University of Buenos Aires, he was director of the Institute of Investigaciones Bioquímicas de Buenos Aires (IIBBA) and the Leloir Institute Foundation, as well as director of the National Agency for Scientific and Technological Promotion between 2013 and 2015. He received important distinctions, such as the AMSUD-Pasteur BIOTECH award (2004) for the development of a new technology for the design of vaccines and the Jorge Sábato Award (2018) for his outstanding record in transfers and technological developments with economic-productive impact in critical sectors for the economic and social development of the country. He has been working for more than 20 years in the fields of Immunology and Molecular and Structural Microbiology. He has published more than 130 scientific papers in international journals in relation to the areas of Molecular, Structural Biology, Immunology, Microbiology and Biochemistry, in addition to being the author of several biotechnological patents. Finally, it should be noted that he was the director of 14 doctoral theses.
