Angeles-ZorreguietaReceived her degree in Chemistry from the School of Exact and Natural Sciences of the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) in 1983. She carried out her doctoral thesis at the Fundación Instituto Leloir (formerly Fundación Campomar) on the biosynthesis and genetics of bacterial polysaccharides, under the supervision of Dr. Luis F. Leloir. She received her Ph.D (1988) from the School of Exact and Natural Sciences of UBA. After a postdoctoral work in the laboratory of Dr. Luis Ielpi, she conducted a second postdoctoral work (1997-2001) in the laboratory of Prof. Dr. J. Allan Downie at John Innes Centre, UK. Since 2001 her laboratory at Fundación Instituto Leloir aims to understand the different strategies used by proteobacteria to colonize the niches they inhabit. Dr. Zorreguieta is currently Independent Investigator of CONICET and Professor of the Department of Biological Chemistry FCEyN at UBA. She was (2006-2011) President of SAMIGE (Society for General Microbiology of Argentina). She is currently Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Leloir Institute Foundation, member of the editorial board of Applied and Environmental Microbiology. She has published over 40 scientific papers, several of them as a result of collaborations with Argentine and U.S. researchers.
