Despite advancements in personalized therapy, several unmet needs persist, particularly in the treatment of advanced cancers. Antitumor responses vary across all cancer types, even within biomarker-based stratification, and while precision oncology often achieves initial success, most patients eventually develop resistance due to cancer heterogeneity. Although extending survivorship remains the primary goal of innovative therapies, addressing long-term side effects, improving quality of life, and managing the rising costs of novel immunotherapeutic combinations have become increasingly important.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-heading stk-block-heading stk-block-heading--v2 stk-block stk-a654e8d\" id=\"strong-skills-amp-tools-strong\" data-block-id=\"a654e8d\"><style>.stk-a654e8d .stk-block-heading__text{color:var(--theme-palette-color-1, #164193) !important;}<\/style><h3 class=\"stk-block-heading__text has-text-color\"><strong>Skills &amp; tools<\/strong><\/h3><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-text stk-block-text stk-block stk-260d7c4\" data-block-id=\"260d7c4\"><p class=\"stk-block-text__text\">Our group is strongly committed to translating bench discoveries into clinical applications. For over 20 years, we have been developing innovative oncolytic adenoviruses (oAdVs) designed to selectively replicate within tumor tissue. Following the initial tumor attack, these oAdVs induce a secondary antitumor immune response and an abscopal effect, enhanced by the incorporation of immunomodulators into the viral genome.<br>More recently, we have further \u201carmed\u201d our oAdVs with BiTEs and checkpoint inhibitors derived from our proprietary nanobody libraries. In addition, ongoing studies are exploring the combination of our oAdVs with mesenchymal stem cells and, through an international collaboration, with CAR-T cells. Additionally, we have integrated CRISPR technology to target mechanisms of cancer resistance to treatment.<br>Beyond our immunotherapeutic strategies, our group actively participates in national and multinational applied genomics programs in cancer research.
