Pablo 3Pablo Wappner is currently Head of the lab of Genetics and Molecular Physiology of the Leloir Institute, Superior Investigator of the Argentine National Council of Research (CONICET), Full Professor of the Physiology and Molecular Biology Department at the School of Sciences, University of Buenos Aires (UBA), and from 2016 to 2018, director of that department. He is currently Visiting Professor of Developmental Biology at Oxford University (UK), and he was President of the Latin American Society of Developmental Biology (LASDB) from 2015 to 2019. He obtained his first degree in Biology from UBA in 1989 and his PhD from the same University in 1995.  From 1995 to 1998, he worked as a post-doctoral fellow at Prof. Benny Shilo’s laboratory at the Weizmann Institute of Science, in Israel. Since 1998 Pablo Wappner’s group at the Leloir Institute utilizes Drosophila melanogaster as a model system to study the molecular and cellular mechanisms that mediate adaptation to stress. Since the lab was established in 1998, it was supported by national and international funding agencies including the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (USA) and the Wellcome Trust (UK).
