Fernanda_CerianiMaría Fernanda Ceriani graduated from the School of Sciences at the University of Buenos Aires, on 1990. She got her Ph.D. degree from the same school on 1996. During this period she was part of Dr. Esteban Hopp (Instituto de Biotecnología, INTA-Castelar) and Dr. Roger Beachy (The Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla, CA, USA) groups. From 1997 to 2002 she joined Dr. Steve Kay (also at The Scripps Research Institute) for her postdoctoral training, where she got interested in unraveling the molecular mechanisms underlying circadian rhythms in Drosophila. Since 2002 she directs the Behavioral Genetics laboratory at the Leloir Institute. She became a member of the National Research Council for Science and Technology on 2002.
She is currently a member of the board of directors of the Society for Research on Biological Rhythms (USA), and of the Argentine Regional Committee of the Pew Charitable Trust. In 2011 she was awarded the L´Oreal-UNESCO award For Women in Science (local edition).
